Among the world’s most renowned chestnut varieties is Japan’s own waguri—known for its large size, gentle sweetness, and delicate, rustic flavor.
This Mont Blanc features Nakayama-guri, a rare and treasured chestnut from Nakayama Town in Ehime Prefecture, once enjoyed by shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu. With its refined aroma and elegant sweetness, it’s often likened to traditional Japanese confectionery. Today, due to a sharp decline in production, it is harvested in only small quantities and rarely seen outside the region.
To highlight its full charm, we’ve paired Nakayama-guri cream with a rich gâteau au chocolat made from French organic chocolate and a tangy cassis sauce. Inside are candied chestnut pieces and a lightly sweet milk semifreddo, finished with salted caramel ice cream for depth and contrast.
A hint of Ron Zacapa rum adds a final aromatic note, elevating the chestnut’s natural flavor into an unforgettable dessert experience.
